TalkSage turns calls and recordings into text. That means it handles some of the most private things you have, so this page says plainly what goes where.
Who we are

What we collect, and why
| Data | Why | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Name, phone number, and email if you sign in with one | Your account; the phone number also limits the free week to one per number | Our account database |
| Call and microphone audio | To turn speech into text | Your phone (encrypted). Streamed to the speech provider during transcription; not stored by us |
| Transcripts, summaries, notes, speaker names | The service itself | Your phone (encrypted). Sent to the AI provider only for a summary, title or question you asked for |
| Caller names and numbers of recorded calls | To label your calls | Your phone. A contact's name can appear in a transcript you send for a summary |
| Minutes used and AI requests made | To count your plan's minutes and keep costs in check | Our database — counts only, never content |
| Subscription status | To know which plan you have | Google Play and our database |
| App settings you choose to sync, including a one-way hash of your app-lock PIN (never the PIN itself) | To restore your settings on a new phone | Our database |
| Messages you send to support | To answer you | Our database and email |
We do not collect your location, your messages, your browsing, or advertising identifiers.
Who processes data for us
These companies process data only to provide TalkSage, under their own security and data-processing terms. They are not allowed to use it for their own purposes.
| Provider | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Soniox | Speech recognition | Audio, during transcription |
| OpenRouter, and the AI model it routes to | Summaries, titles, answers to questions | The transcript you asked about |
| Google Cloud Translation | Translating transcripts | The text being translated |
| Supabase | Accounts, plans, usage counts, synced settings | Account data listed above |
| Google Play | Payments and subscriptions | Your purchase; we never see your card |
| Cloudflare | Hosting this website; email routing | Standard web request data |
Some of these providers are in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or the EU, it is protected by the providers' standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
The TalkSage Helper
The Helper app detects when a phone or VoIP call starts and who is calling. It uses Android's accessibility service and notification access for calling apps only (the phone app, WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, Viber, Google Meet). It does not read messages, other apps or what you type, and it sends nothing to the internet itself: it passes the call's audio to TalkSage on the same phone.
How long we keep it
- Account data: while your account exists, and deleted within 30 days after you delete it.
- Usage counts: while your account exists; deleted with it.
- Support messages: up to 2 years. They are stored without a link to your account.
- Audio: not kept by us. Our speech provider processes it to transcribe and does not keep it for its own use.
- Records we must keep by law (for example tax records of purchases) for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete the data we hold about you, and object to or restrict how it is used. Email support@talksage.ai; we reply within 30 days. If you are in the UK or the EU you can also complain to your data-protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
The legal bases we rely on are: performing our contract with you (running the service), legitimate interests (preventing abuse of the free week, keeping costs in check), and consent (recording, which you confirm before the first recording).
Recording other people
When you record a call, the other person's voice and words are processed too. You are responsible for recording lawfully: many places require that everyone on the call knows it is being recorded, and some require their consent.
Security
Recordings and transcripts on your phone are encrypted, and backup files you export are encrypted with a key derived from your account. All traffic between the app and our servers or providers is encrypted in transit. Your app-lock PIN is stored only as a salted one-way hash.
Children
TalkSage is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect children's data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change applies. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
